Boosting Motivation and Imagination with Incentives and STEM Focused Play

Help me give my students supplies needed to support their diverse academic and social-emotional needs. These resources including the LEGO sets for creative and collaborative play and the integration for STEM-based activities will enhance motivation, creativity, and hands-on learning.

My Project

There is something incredibly special about first graders—their natural curiosity, their eagerness to learn, and the way their eyes light up when they discover something new. Each student brings a unique spark to the classroom, and watching them grow in confidence, kindness, and knowledge is both inspiring and deeply rewarding.

The materials in this project will benefit these eager learners by providing some of the following:

- Incentives like a treasure box, where I can motivate and positively reinforce behaviors that build a safe, respectful learning community — something first graders truly thrive on.

- Creative play opportunities using LEGO I am supporting not only imaginative exploration but also collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. These are essential skills, especially for students developing both academically and socially.

- STEM extensions using hands-on materials, students can engage more deeply with science concepts in ways that are meaningful, tactile, and fun. This type of learning makes complex ideas accessible and builds a lasting foundation in STEM.
