Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with a group of middle school students with Autism. Due to their disability they struggle on a daily basis to grasp basic math skills. They are visual learners and through hands on activities they are able to acquire the skills I teach them.

My students are awesome middle school kids.

They are inner city kids from low income families. They have unique needs and abilities. Unfortunately, our school district continues to face budget cuts which cause my class to lack the necessary resources in guiding them to reach their full potential. Math is a subject that is vital in their lives because its in our everyday life. Everybody needs math skills to go shopping, to go eat at a restaurant, to budget our finances, etc. The list goes on and on. If my students don't have a good understanding in number sense they will not be able to function in the real world as adults.

My Project

By donating to our project you will be a part of my students academic achievement. These resources will help them visualize math concepts and get hands-on practice. As they trace the textile numbers with their fingers, they will learn to recognize the numbers 1-100, as well as, develop the fine motor skills they'll need to write each number on their own. Having materials for different centers will allow me to foster independent work, as well as, collaboration in a group setting. What's great about these items is I will be able to track student progress in the printable assessments that come included.

So what do you say?

Will you please help inner city, special needs students reach their math goals? Your help is immensely appreciated. I thank you in advance for believing in our project. I do not doubt that the materials requested will boost student progress. It is a step closer to guiding them to an adulthood of independence.
