This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My kids come alive during our guided reading discussions. I enjoy it just as much, like a daily book club. We have great conversations. We have no school library and no book room in my school. Another challenge in our classroom is outdated history textbooks. These books do not reflect the students in my classroom. Students are inspired by historical figures who reflect their culture.
Obtaining new biography sets written for kids will allow us the opportunity to improve critical thinking skills while learning of historic figures often left out of traditional history textbooks.
