My Students

My students come from a high-poverty low-income community. They live in the poorest county of New Jersey. Some of my students' parents work 2-3 jobs to take care of the bare necessities of everyday life. While their parents want the very best for them, the extra things in life may not be able to be provided. About 75% of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and cannot readily afford materials to help enhance their education.

My students have faced many challenges in their young lives where school tends to be their only constant.

In our 1st grade classroom, we like to keep things exciting. There are a lot of important skills that my 1st graders need to master before they are ready for 2nd grade. They love working with each other and learning new things!

My Project

My students need 2 Chromebooks to begin to understand the full use of technology in our ever evolving world of education. Chromebooks are a simple and affordable way to put the much needed technology of today into the hands of our students. Chromebooks have vast educational resources with a multitude of educational apps. Our class will be able to integrate rich content specific lessons with the fast, reliable Chromebook.

Our first grade students will be given the opportunity to use the latest technology in their learning of new content.

The Chromebooks will provide an alternate avenue of writing, especially for students who struggle with the sometimes daunting task of writing with paper and pencil. It will be a rewarding experience for both the students and myself to watch our writing take shape with the use of the Chromebooks.
