My Students

My students are from a small New England town that has been affected by Covid-19 as most schools have. The students in my room have lost half of a school year in class and we are fighting to get them back in the classroom to learn.

Being away from my classroom, I have had a lot of time to reflect on what would enhance the learning of my students when they return.

These children have learned first hand not to take any situation for granted and I want to create the most inviting learning environment for them when they return.

My Project

Using the math manipulative kit will allow students to work independently while I work with groups. This will allow more children to practice missing skills even when they are not sitting directly with me in a small group.

A small group of students can work side by side or work at their desk and the tiles allow for self-correction, so a teacher is not needed for this activity.

Students will be given 15-minute blocks to rotate each day through a different math skill. These learning tiles will allow children the power to strengthen their math skills independently.
