This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Unfortunately as a teacher it seems like I don't have enough time and supplies necessary to expose my students to the arts as much as I would like. This school year I have made it a goal to expose my students to the arts and hopefully build an appreciation of music and different types of arts!
I am a teacher in a school that services students who come from low income working class families that live in or close to one of Los Angeles low income housing complexes.
My students are some of the most creative 1st graders you can ever meet. They are smart enthusiastic learners who enjoy learning and listening to stories read to them
My Project
Since the beginning of this year, I have made sure that I set time to work on a variety of arts with my students. I have the necessary supplies to expose them to arts like painting, clay art and drama. With budget cuts I do not have the necessary supplies to expose them to the art of music. I would like to start my students musical adventure by making their own music. I would like 4 sets of boomwhackers. I chose this media to start with because it is age appropriate and a fun way to explore and begin to appreciate the art of music. The books and CD's will help my lessons and guide my students when making music. We need the dock station to play the Boomwhacker CD music on while making music.
Thank you for taking the time to read and possibly donate to this project.
I would love to expose my students to the arts, music in particular. With your help, we can build a love and appreciation of the arts. Thank You
