My students need BoomWackers to learn about sound waves and frequency. They are also amazing instruments that are accessible to a wide range of learners.

My Students
Everyone wants to be able to create music - especially the students at my high school. By introducing a chromatic set of BoomWhackers into the classroom we can provide another outlet for students to explore sound and understand the physics behind this amazing phenomenon.
My students are always making music.
Whether it's singing in the choir, playing in the band, jamming on guitars or making beats in their bedrooms, they're always engaged with sound. They also are hungry for more outlets to explore their creativity. The arts programs at our school are growing and more students are taking notice of what they can gain from getting involved. To keep up with this interest, we have to continue to diversify our offerings.
My Project
While BoomWhackers my be seen as a predominantly elementary music classroom tool, they are highly applicable to a high school setting. In short, BoomWhackers are the most efficient way of demonstrating frequency and pitch. Next year our school will be offering two sections of Audio Engineering/Music Production - where students will learn about music fundamentals and how to operate a recording studio as well as manage live sound. While this is an exciting opportunity, fundamentals must always be involved. Our new class will start off with discussions about "what is sound" and "how does sound actually work in the physical world?" There are many diagrams and videos that can describe this - but BoomWhackers are a physical object that students can hold, interact with and make music with to understand the fundamentals of sound waves.
By donating to this project you will not only be contributing to a growing arts community but providing materials for a subject that is very rarely taught at the high school level.
At our school we want to create a fully functional student run recording studio - and understanding the fundamentals of how sound works is the beginning of the whole process. With your donation students will be able to explore their creativity in ways they never dreamed possible. Thank you so much for your support!
