Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is located in an area in Queens which is notable for its incredible diversity of cultures. More than half of the residents are foreign-born, representing every one of the world's continents. Despite this, many of my students' families do not have the resources and opportunities to explore the area's rich cultural, musical, and creative resources.
Due to Covid19 this year, music class will be in their own classrooms and they are in need of pitched musical instruments that are easily transportable from classroom to classroom and can also be sanitized quickly and easily.
I am working on diverse music repertoire with my students, which spans all genres and decades. When I am able to integrate music learning with other subjects, in an interdisciplinary manner, my students tap into a learning environment where all subjects are connected, through a pragmatic approach.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting for my students would help them learn in a creative and unique learning environment in which all students will get a chance to share and develop their creativity by discovering musical pitch on these Boom whackers.
Due to COVID, all students will be having music in their classroom and they are excited about playing instruments that are fun, engaging, and can help them become better musicians.
By donating to this project, you will help me to attain pitched Boom Whackers - in which students can learn about the highs and lows of musical pitch, note reading, and ultimately perform songs on Boom Whackers.
As my students love to sing and perform, it will also help to improve student attention and engagement and ultimately will increase their love and passion for music and nurture their talents and provide them with an outlet for creativity-one in which they can always look back upon fondly.
The Boom Whackers and the resource/songbooks will allow my students to perform on pitched music instruments effectively in their classroom, while still being able to enjoy music, learn, and have fun.
