This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from low-income neighborhoods with limited resources and have varied sensory, emotional, and learning difficulties. I try my best to provide a safe, nurturing, and multi-sensory approach to learning in which each child has the opportunity to shine.
My Project
Due to the pandemic, I will be providing speech/language therapy in-person & remotely. This means that I'll be helping students in person while in school as well as at home! I've found children work best through engaging activities and digital content that is relevant to them. It motivates them and allows for more socialization between those who need communication support the most! We might be physically distant, but our mental & social wellness still requires that human connection. Teachers Pay Teachers offers so many digital resources including "Boom Cards"; which have been a game-changer in teletherapy. They are amazing because you can assign different decks based on a child's individual goals or needs. "Boom Cards" also let me track a student's progress with ease and collect accurate data. These digital tools can help bridge the gap between my in-person and remote students. They will now have the same accessibility of materials to learn and be successful regardless of where they are!
