Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My pre-K-5 students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds. In our urban school setting, we educate 750 children, of which 105 will be enrolled in 4th grade percussion class. Kids need continuously to be inspired. They are hungry to learn new skills. It never ceases to amaze me what our students can accomplish given the opportunity.
The 2021 - 2022 school year is right around the corner and live musical instruction and performances are back.
I am quite fortunate to find generous donors like you to fund projects that not only will play a major role in teaching my kids; but, will also play an important part in the future success of their lives.
Our children are our most important resource, and so, we must make every effort to provide the very best circumstances to educate them. It's time to get the creative juices going and make school learning fun and exciting.
My Project
Live music instruction is back and kids are going to learn to play musical instruments to play for audiences. We all know how important it is to teach the elements of music; beat, rhythm, melody, harmony, texture, and expression. The vehicle to bring that instruction to life comes in many forms.
This year I want to add a little spice to our 4th grade drumming group by using Boomwhackers!
These tubular instruments seem to me to be a way to bring unlimited instruction and joy to my students and inspire them to perform for audiences of family, friends, and community members.
I teach different kinds of instruments to each grade level. It's very important to me to provide these opportunities to all of the students in my school, so I keep building each of these programs. Boomwhackers will expand our percussion program and compliment what we already do. Again, I do all that I can to make learning as exciting as possible.
