Boom a Little, Whack a Little

My students need additional sets of boomwhacker instruments and octavator caps for music class.

Our school is a fabulous place to learn. As the music teacher, I try to give my students new experiences that will test their musical knowledge and give them an outlet for fun creativity. My school serves kindergarten - fifth grade and I am lucky enough to see them all each week in music class. We grow so much over the course of the school year and I love giving them new challenges!

Recently, I opened up my boomwhacker trunk to introduce my 3rd graders to the instruments. They require little musical training - all you do is hit the tubes on the floor and they make sound! The students fell in love with them. We had so much fun making up accompaniments to songs we knew. The only problem is that I only had enough for 8 students to play at a time. The others were patient, but I could tell they were disappointed that their turn was quick and that they wanted to experiment more.

We would love to have additional boomwhackers so we can all play together in class. If we're good enough on them, I've told the children we can play for their parents at the next PTO meeting in the spring! They are so excited and are hoping that DonorsChoose will come through for them on this project.

Your help will allow my music students who do achieve highly to continue to soar, and will also give the lower students a chance to feel successful. Everyone can play a boomwhacker and the looks on their faces are priceless when they are having a good time. Please consider helping us with this project.
