Bookshelf Boost: Fueling Young Imaginations

My Project

In our classroom, reading is more than just an assignment—it’s a pathway to curiosity, empathy, and critical thinking. To support this, I’m building a diverse and engaging choice reading library that reflects my students’ interests, identities, and experiences. The goal is to encourage a lifelong love of reading by offering books they want to read, not just those they have to read.

Many of my students come from backgrounds where access to books at home is limited.

By expanding our classroom library with high-interest novels, graphic novels, contemporary YA fiction, and culturally relevant texts, I can help remove barriers and ensure every student can find something that excites them. These books will not only boost reading stamina and comprehension, but also spark meaningful conversations and connections.

With your help, this project will provide students with the opportunity to choose books that speak to them personally. Giving teens the freedom to select their own reading material increases motivation and builds confidence. Your support will directly impact their daily learning experience and help create a vibrant reading culture in our classroom.
