This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In the art room, my students are exploring cultures and artwork from around the globe, but we need hands-on reading materials. These books will be used daily in our studio practice.
Having multicultural books in the art room will provide vital cultural content and visuals for my little artists.
We will "travel" to Australia, China, Mexico, and Africa to learn about how the artwork created by people around the world gives us insight into their cultures. For example, when we travel to Mexico we will explore how the tradition of Amate paper making is a special activity passed down through generations, and that the paintings made on these papers often show everyday life in Mexican towns.
My artists are so excited to learn about the lives and art from places around the world and to experience new art-making techniques in response to our travels.
