My Project

I am a first grade teacher, and I’m working to create a more organized and accessible classroom library for my students. Right now, our books are stored in mismatched bins with no clear categories or labels, making it hard for young readers to find the books they’re interested in or ones that match their reading levels. With your support, I hope to receive book bins, leveled labels, genre stickers, and shelf dividers. These materials will make it easier for my students to navigate the library, return books properly, and choose texts that fit their needs. An organized library not only saves time but also promotes independence and builds strong reading habits.

My goal for this project is to create a space that invites exploration and supports every child’s reading journey.

I want students to feel excited when they walk up to our shelves and confident in finding books they’ll enjoy and can read successfully. By teaching them how to use an organized library system, I’m also helping them develop responsibility, self-direction, and a sense of ownership over their learning. These are foundational skills that will serve them beyond the classroom.

What makes my students special is their eagerness to learn and their curiosity about the world. Many of them are still building foundational reading skills, and they benefit greatly from a classroom environment that supports choice and clarity. My students are kind, hardworking, and full of potential—this project will help remove the frustration of a disorganized space and give them the tools they need to grow as readers and learners.
