My Students

The students in my school are eager to come to school every day. They are enthusiastic, inquisitive, and caring. Many students in my school are refugees and are English language learners. They enjoy sharing their culture with us. The students in my school live in a high-poverty neighborhood where they do not have access to books or technology at home. Many of my students have unstable home lives and come to school needing their teachers to support them in many ways.

Students in my school all have unique needs and it's my job to figure out how to best meet those needs.

I support my students' emotional needs as well as educational needs throughout the day. My students are below, on, and above grade level in reading. They enjoy doing computer-based learning and meeting with me in their guided reading group. This is the time when I can fill in their gaps or do an enriching activity.

I incorporate a variety of learning strategies to best support them and help them grow as learners. My students are so proud of themselves when they are successful. It makes me so happy to see them smile!

My Project

As a 4th grade ELA teacher, I am hoping to provide a classroom that is full of books that my students actually want to read. I want students to see themselves in the characters and relate to the stories being told. I want them to learn about heroes and be inspired to do great things as well.

This classroom library will help my students find books they want to read instead of being told what to read.

Students are more likely to pick up a book that is about a topic of interest or that they can make a connection to. I am hoping to provide more choice in reading materials so students enjoy reading. Thank you for your support of my students.
