My students are very excited about learning and reading. I love when they find a book that makes them smile.
It can be so hard to find great books that even my struggling readers can enjoy. We have a very high ELL population at my school, this can make reading a challenge.
My class is filled with children that love to learn and are so excited about reading.
They always manage to put a smile on my face and make me laugh everyday!
The students in my class are very diverse. I have students that are still learning English and come from, literally, all over the world. Many come from Central and South America as well as Burma, Somalia, Vietnam, Iraq and many more.
Our school is in a low income area and some of our children do not have the materials they need to learn at home. We regularly give books to our students so they have something to read when they are not at school.
My Project
The books I have requested are great for early readers. They will be put in my classroom library for the students to read everyday. I will also be reading them aloud to the students. They already know about the characters from the book so they will be so excited to see new ones in our library for them.
I would love to have the students create their own Elephant and Piggie stories. They would write their stories and then put them into the style of the books. Drawing pictures and using the word bubbles just like Mo Willams. We could act these out using the Plush Toys and share them with the class. This would help them to become better, more confident writers.
I own about five of these books currently and they have already gotten my children so excited about reading! They literally laugh out loud when they read these books and honestly so do I!

These donations will improve my classroom by making reading fun even for my students that struggle, because these books are great beginning readers.
They will make those readers feel more confident when they are able to read and understand a book they actually love!
If I can teach my class one thing it would be to love reading, because if they love that they will continue to learn and grow for the rest of their lives.
