Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from very diverse backgrounds. Our school is a Title One school, and every child receives free breakfast and lunch which is now available from a pickup/walk up service due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. To help with the new distance learning procedures all students were provided with a Chromebook to support their at home learning; however not every family has access to the internet and some rely on the workbooks and worksheets provided by the school or teachers.
My Project
My students are special education students who come from a variety of backgrounds. They are not able to go into a physical classroom to support their summer learning. These students need physical materials to help better support their learning. Working on a computer is fun, but younger students need tangible books and materials to support their focus and penmanship skills.
My students would greatly benefit from reading, math, and writing workbooks to actively engage them in their distance learning summer lessons.
They need to be provided with a variety of ways to access their learning. These materials would give them the tools they need to be successful.
