Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from many diverse backgrounds which require many different approaches to teaching and learning. My students come in every day excited and ready to learn. Our school is a low-income school where every child receives free breakfast, snack and lunch.
Many of our students come from homes that speak a language other than English and having the tools in the classroom my students need in order to succeed is very important to me!
Knowing my students come from different backgrounds and learn differently, I want to make sure they are well-equipped with all of the materials they need so that they can all learn to their highest potential and be prepared for the future.
My Project
My students have overcome so many obstacles so far this school year! While we are all learning to navigate learning from a computer it has brought some difficulty.
My students need books in their hands to help learn during reading!
Right now, I am conducting a read aloud through the computer but, it isn't working as well as I had hoped. In the end, my students would succeed and do so much better if they had the actual book in their hands. With these books I will be able to read aloud on Google Meet and my students will be able to follow along in their own book that they have with them. In addition, my students need notebooks to write their reading responses, typing on the computer just takes too long and they need a break.
