After 7 years as an instructional mentor, I am heading back to the classroom! My heart is in the classroom and at the school level supporting students so I am so excited to be starting back as an English Language Arts teacher. Since it’s been some time since I’ve had my own classroom and with COVID-19 changing the learning landscape, I am starting fresh with a need to create a classroom within and beyond four walls. I am seeking support to create a classroom with an array of resources that meets the social, emotional and academic needs of all my students through the inclusion of culturally relevant and trauma-responsive resources.
My Project
These books will be used by students for small group book clubs which will engage students in reading and analyzing high quality texts to grow in their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
One of the most powerful possessions we all have is our story and the ability to share it!
These books provide a strong sampling of the power of our voice and the important perspectives to learn and grow.
These texts are selected as grade, age and readiness appropriate for students to learn about the lives’ of others and find connections to their own lives’ and community with themes of diversity, inclusion, hope and resilience.
