The books Pumpkin Trouble, Fancy Nancy: Poet Extraordinaire, Scaredy-Cat, Fossils Tell of Long Ago, Mae Among the Stars, Eyes That Kiss in the Corners,A Three Hat Day, Last Stop On Market Street, Akiak: A Tale From the Iditarod, Walter the Farting Dog: Banned from the Beach, Ladybug Girl and the Rescue Dogs, The Greedy Triangle, How Much Is a Million, Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday, Thunder Cake, Mango, Abuela and Me, Frogs, Ohana Means Family, Evelyn Del Rey Is Moving Away, A Library of Fly Guy 20 Books and I Don't Want to Be a Frog will make a difference in their learning by improving their vocabulary by introducing them to new words. The more they read, the more vocabulary grows, along with the ability to effectively communicate. Reading daily improves comprehension and student performance.
Besides improving my students' comprehension and vocabulary skills, another goal is for my students to read these books for pleasure.
We have an outdoor reading hammock area at our school. My students would read these books in a hammock for enjoyment. My goal is that my reluctant readers will start to read and gain confidence with their reading.
