This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach second grade at a two-way immersion school where both native Spanish speakers and native English speakers come together to learn a new language from one another. My sweet, bilingual students are hard-working, kind, and a joy to teach. I am so proud to be their teacher!

I am requesting books in Spanish from the Ninja Life Hacks series to teach my students how to promote wellness within themselves and others.

Through this project, I plan to use the Ninja Life Hack books to teach my students life skills that will help them grow into compassionate, confident children. This year, our school community is making a concentrated effort to support student emotional wellness. Every morning, we do a class circle to build community and share what is going on in our lives. These books would be perfect jumping-off points to guide our daily circle discussion. Since the book sets cover a variety of topics, I would be able to choose themes to help students grow their knowledge of their own emotions and skills, as well as ways to support others in our classroom and beyond. In addition, if a student/family was working towards a specific goal, I could send home the corresponding Ninja book for them to read and discuss as a family.
