Books to Promote Discussion and Growth

Help me give my students A diverse library and selection of books that will encourage them to choose their novels and expand their knowledge of authors.

My Students

My students vary from fervid readers to disengaged English students. Bringing in different types of books for them to try and use in literature circles would be a great addition to my classroom. My students enjoy first chapter Friday where I introduce new books to them, so I’m hopeful that having multiple copies in class will help them get the books they like to read.

My Project

These books will offer different perspectives and more variety for choice of core novels. During literature circles, students will be able to choose their titles and the titles will have overarching ideas that will allow for discussion. By allowing them to choose their books, students will have ownership over the project and then, hopefully, will complete it with more effort because they are truly engaged and not just writing for a grade. I have seen students want different titles that vary from our core novels and I believe these titles will help fulfill a void.
