Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In order to study efficiently, students should know the best way they process information and memorize facts. Unfortunately, studying skills are not part of the traditional curriculum and kids may take years to find their learning style. Some fit the format, others may just drop out.

My public school tries to offer the best to our kids who come from economically disadvantaged families.

75% of our students are African American alongside Latin and Asian children. This situation offers unlimited opportunities to learn tolerance and team work while discovering new perspectives. However, our school and our families can't afford the sources we need to support academic knowledge and significantly improve student achievement.

My Project

My fourth grade students need age appropriate books to become aware of the way we learn; in other words, what happens in the brain and how to maximize their potential. Once children understand why they must be engaged to learn anything, the teacher can refer to that brain activity all year and redirect a drifting mind. Rebellious students comprehend that they must participate not because the teacher said so, but because they wouldn't learn otherwise. Others realize that they learn differently than others and it is totally fine. Suddenly, the classroom dynamics change as students realize that they are in control. They would use the books to research, take notes, discuss, and create a PowerPoint presentation that would also explain their individual learning style. This great collection of books would enable the class to complete this project that would last a few weeks.

Thanks to your kind contribution, all my students would be able to refer to their best learning technique, therefore reinforcing their studying as well as their organization skills.

Your donation would support the education of budding problem-solvers! Thank you for being agents of change!
