My students need books that are engaging and that will spark their interest in reading. Books like, Detention of Doom, My Brother is a Superhero, and the books about the athletes will help!

My Students
I teach ELA to ninety fifth graders in Michigan. My school is a Title 1 school and the students in my classes are eager to learn.
The students are divided into three different rotations and I would love to increase the variety of books in my classroom library, in order to provide books at different reading levels for the students to read.
The boys and girls in my rotations have many different reading levels and interests. Since I have taught science and social studies in the past, my classroom library is mainly made up of non-fiction texts. I would love to add more novels, age appropriate fiction, and graphic novels to my classroom library to spark a love of reading in my learners.
My Project
With my current classroom library being filled with mostly non-fiction, my students are craving to read engaging fiction. My students love graphic novels, chapter books, and reading about famous athletes that inspire them.
Most of my students rarely have the opportunity to check books out from the local library or can not afford to purchase this books from stores.
I want them to read more and feel it is important to read for "fun" as well as for academics.
This project would be beneficial in reaching all the interests of my students, as well as, their reading levels. I can not wait for their excitement when receiving these books and their engagement as they read the books.
