My students need these books in order to experience the MINDUP Curriculum. MINDUP is research-based curriculum that uses the latest research about the brain to dramatically improve behavior and learning for all students.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I service about 90 Gifted and Talented students at our school. My students are unique in that their abilities are significantly above the norm for their age. They are highly intelligent, artistic, creative, and inquisitive. They love coming to class knowing that they will be challenged in different ways. They thrive in an environment where they can research, analyze, debate, and innovate.
It is common for gifted students to demonstrate greater maturity in some areas over other students.
Because of this, there is a greater risk of developing social-emotional difficulties; such as, anxiety, perfectionism, stress, and issues with peer relationships and identity concerns. Gifted students can find it difficult to fit in with other students of the same age. The GATE classroom offers an environment that is safe for these students to be themselves.
My Project
The books will be used with the MINDUP Curriculum. The curriculum is brain-focused strategies for learning and living. Each lesson begins with background information on the brain. Students focus on an area of concentration and connect it to how the brain works. What I love most about the curriculum is that it's belief is that the child who learns to mindfully monitor his or her senses and feelings becomes more aware and better understands how to respond to the world reflectively rather than reflexively.
The books will help to improve my students understanding and competency in authentic and meaningful ways.
The books helps the students to expand their knowledge. Throughout the MINDUP Curriculum, students have many opportunities to use the books to delve a little deeper into each lesson.
