This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a special place with amazing children who love to read and value books. We have nourished readers and we love to see them grow through quality reading materials. Many of our students come from families struggling to provide materials for their children. We are a Title I school.

Many of the books at this school were from the 80s and need updating.

Students love to read on varied subjects such as ocean life and history. We need help getting current examples in their hands. The first step to furthering reading skills is having books students love or are of a common interest.

I've been a librarian for 10 years and know kids love engaging titles. Let's work together to get some fun and engaging ones in their hands! Thank you for any help you can provide.

My Project

This wonderful project is full of books to widen our readers' perspectives. Many of the titles feature diverse characters or are from authors across a spectrum of experiences. Others represent the varied interests of our students. Books like the Dinosaur Encyclopedia and Planet Omar will work to show current choices to students.

This project features a fresh assortment of informational books and fiction titles representing characters of varied backgrounds.

Several students have noted the age of our nonfiction offerings. This project will allow students to feel inspired as they grow in learning.

The resources in our project will allow me to offer free choice reading opportunities to engage our students. They will be used at school and at home for their independent reading time. This will allow us to move the students along their journey as readers working to grow leaders. The goal is to extend their reading time by 15 minutes per night.

Included in this project are bookends, easels for display of books and a pocket chart to allow students who need positive reinforcements a sticker for returning their books on time.

Your assistance in updating our informational and fiction books will instill pride in our students. When students see current and appealing offerings - they feel valued.
