This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a lovely group of First Graders. We are a Dual Language Class, which means that students are learning at least one language- we alternate between instruction in Spanish and English every other day. We are a Title I school, which means that many of our students come from low income families.

Many of my students do not have regular access to books that they want to read independently.

My Project

My wonderful First Graders are growing into enthusiastic readers, but they need MORE books! These sets of books will fill out our classroom library with some books that the kids will be so excited to read. This collection includes graphic novels, books with characters that students can relate to, and a collection of books in Spanish.

Help us build a classroom library that students will be excited to visit, where they can see themselves in books, read in both English and Spanish, and find joy in reading!

These books will provide that continued spark necessary for students to become life-long readers!
