My students need higher levels books to read. These upcoming students are reading on a much higher reading level than what I have in my classroom library.
When students enter my room I want them to look forward to their day. I want them to enjoy learning and to have fun.
My students are a gifted group of second graders.
They are all reading above grade level. Many of the students come from homes that both parents need to work in order to meet the needs of their family. Many students come from a low income household. We are also a Title 1 school.
My Project
I have noticed that many of my students are no longer picking books from the library because they are "to easy" for them or they have read them before. These books will help put the love back in reading for all my students. I want to share my love of reading with all of them.
This will help my students greatly!
The students will get a chance to pick books from our classroom library that they can take home and read to their family. Many students have told me they have no books at home to read. This will help foster a love of reading.
More than half of students from low‑income households
