My students need highly engaging novels for choice reading--novels that will peak their interests and help develop their imaginations. With these books, my middle school reading intervention students will become lifelong readers and learners.
My reading intervention students are amazing and many have overcome so much adversity in their short lives. Our school is a Title I school, and 95% of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, while 100% of my students are reading at least two grades below reading level. As a reading intervention teacher, it is crucial that I provide them with the most engaging and positive reading experience in order to get them to where they need to be with reading and have successful futures.
"What we learn becomes a part of who we are." The books donated to our classroom library would enhance my middle school students' learning experience.
We are in need of highly engaging novels to allow my students to imagine, grow, and enjoy reading. I know that with the right books, we can turn reluctant readers into lifelong learners and readers.
My Project
These novels will make a significant impact in the learning of my reading intervention students. Right now, my classroom library does not have new, highly engaging novels that peak my students' interests--a lot of them are old. I need current books that will motivate my most challenging readers. I teach reading intervention and although we have various ways of reading (programs online and other direct instruction books), my students need actual books they can pick out during choice reading time.
I know these novels are what my students need to help them become engaged readers and to help them find a true passion for reading over their entire lifetime.
