My Students

First and second graders are energetic, enthusiastic, and super social. They are so enjoyable to be around. They love being involved in the learning process and want to succeed. Our goal as a classroom is that we enter the classroom each day ready to try new things and be brave to make mistakes. Mistakes lead to learning. As a teacher in an impoverished urban area, we struggle to have access to resources needed to provide a quality twenty-first century education. My goal is to provide an equitable education for each student in our classroom.

I teach eager and enthusiastic students who need these resources to reach their full potential.

My Project

First, you might ask what are high-interest books? They can be simply classified as books that children want to read, because they hold the interest of the reader. These books I have selected include some graphic novels, but other early chapter books that many 1st and 2nd graders want to read. These books are filled with action and adventure. By adding these popular book titles to our classroom library, it will get our students wanting to read more.
