Help me give my students books to allow them to feel represented and understood while also teaching their peers to understand them and related to them. Calming tools and books will help with relationships and self development.
My students often struggle with identifying and addressing their emotions. Having tools and books to teach them these skills and provide representation of some of their biggest feelings will help them to have a new way to access them. Calming tools are always helpful, but my students also go through them pretty quickly in my room. Adding to my own toolbox of supports will allow my students to have more opportunities to find the right tool for them. Stored in the requested bookcase, books about acceptance and understanding neurodivergence and autism will also show them that they are special while teaching their peers more about them in a safe and accessible way. My students are often misunderstood or ignored so it is my hope that these books will help teach sensitivity, understanding, and acceptance.
