My Project

My second graders are eager to learn, but many are still building the foundational skills needed to succeed in both reading and math. They need consistent, engaging practice to strengthen their ability to decode words, write about their thinking, and solve math problems with confidence.

As a Title I school, we have limited resources to provide the relevant books that support both literacy and math development in meaningful ways.

Phonics decodable books, math journals, math practice books, and interactive learning books are needed to support daily instruction. Decodable books will help students apply phonics skills and become more confident readers, while math journals will allow them to explain their thinking and deepen understanding. Math practice books and interactive resources will give students hands-on opportunities to build fluency, problem solve, and stay engaged during lessons.

The impact of these resources will be powerful. Students who struggle with reading will begin to gain confidence as they successfully decode and understand text. In math, students will strengthen their skills through repeated practice and meaningful application. I will measure success through improved reading fluency, stronger written responses in journals, and increased accuracy in math tasks. With your support, my students will build the literacy skills and confidence they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond. Thank you for investing in their growth and future success.
