This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I sat in the same seats that my students currently sit in. I know the struggles of walking the streets of the Southwest side of Chicago. The struggles of the ESL students as they face as they struggle to understand their teachers as they speak in English. The struggle to understand this abstract concept of Biology while they worry about where their next meal will come.

These individuals come in to class every day with an inspiring will to learn.

My Project

When you think of biology you either have one of two reactions. You will either groan in despair or smile as reminisce about cutting open a frog.

In order to promote independent reading and research, these materials will be a used as a foundation for a classroom library.

These books will provide students with materials that make the seemingly unattainable biology concepts much easier to grasp and visualize with an accessible reading levels. This library will be the foundation of classroom discussions to create engagement in our classroom. These books will be used as individual resources for independent research for posed questions. This will halt the automatic response of to the internet and promote them to grab a book from our classroom library.
