Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students crave knowledge. Learning with hands-on activities is more meaningful than using a textbook. For my students, being able to test and redesign a possible solution is a far better experience in the learning process.
My students are very diverse.
Our school is located in a low income area of Las Vegas, Nevada. Being a magnet school, we like to take a different approach to the learning process. Giving students the opportunity to reach and answer by experimentation using the design process.
My Project
My Students need novels to read. Giving each student a choice of what to read is more meaningful then assigning a book. This way the students has ownership of the book they choose.
Reading is the foundation to a great education.
Each time a student finishes a book they will be able to place a block on the tower, thus building their reading foundation. This will give the students incentive to read and build up the tower until the entire class has read 100 books, then they can can play. Once the tower falls the reading begins again to build the reading tower.
