My students need available text in the classroom to broaden their vocabulary and comprehension skills while enhancing their world and creating a love for reading. I am requesting a class set of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."
I teach an enriched 2nd grade class in a rural Ohio area. When my students walk in they are passionate and excited to learn and explore in all subject areas. However, due to limited resources and finances, my students do not have the texts available that they need to continue to broaden their understanding of the world around them.
My students are self-motivators who are continuously pushing themselves and each other to do more and do better.
They have outstanding minds that need to be fostered with appropriate materials that I, unfortunately, cannot provide alone. My students and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your consideration of donating to our class.
My Project
“There are many little ways to enlarge your world. Love of books is the best of all.” – Jacqueline Kennedy. I have created this project because I believe having higher-level reading materials available to my students at any given time will make a big impact on their reading skills, comprehension, and understanding of the world around them.
When students have text that they find engaging, interesting and relatable to their own lives they want to continue to read and grow.
I am asking for donations for the story "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." We will use the text “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” as a whole class read each day at the end of the school year. Together, we will read, discuss and comprehend this book. By giving each student their own copy of the book in the classroom they get to practice following along in their head and are given the chance to read the text out loud. This is a skill that needs to be practiced daily to enhance students' fluency and literacy skills.
The students will also engage in meaningful activities that go along with "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," such as creating STEM activities like building their own factory. I truly believe it is important for students to be exposed to all kinds of text, and by donating to our project you are helping my students gain a deeper understanding and a greater vocabulary, which will help them succeed in their future schooling and life.
