My school is predominately African-American. My goal for this project is to provide a wealth of literature that focuses on the African-American culture for our students to read. My students are special because they LOVE NEW books! I am the library media specialist so these books will touch every student in grades K-5.
Books that will let our students see themselves on the pages as leaders, as successful, as good, as beautiful, as having great potential, as loved and so much more.
Titles such as "Undefeated" will encourage our students to persevere. Titles such as "Hair Like Mine" will give our students hair confidence. "Little People, Big Dreams" will encourage our students to dream big.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
