Help me give my students access to new, diverse books that support our Social Emotional Learning curriculum, Character Strong, fostering their emotional intelligence, resilience, and stronger relationships in a nurturing library environment.

My Project

I love our CES students for their curiosity, creativity, and resilience. Each day, they inspire me with their unique perspectives and eagerness to learn. The resources I’m requesting—new, diverse books aligned with our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum, Character Strong—will significantly enhance their learning experience.

These books will provide students with relatable stories and characters that reflect their experiences, fostering empathy and understanding.

By engaging with themes of resilience, cooperation, and emotional intelligence, they will develop vital social skills that are essential for their personal growth and relationships. The stories will serve as conversation starters, allowing students to discuss their feelings and learn from one another in a supportive environment.

My goals for this project are to create a rich library that promotes SEL, encouraging students to connect with the material and apply the lessons in their everyday lives. I aim to cultivate a library atmosphere where students feel safe, valued, and empowered to express themselves.

What makes my students special is their diverse backgrounds and experiences. They bring their own stories and perspectives into the library, enriching our discussions and fostering a sense of community. By incorporating these new books, I hope to honor their individuality and support their journey toward becoming compassionate, well-rounded individuals. Together, we can create a brighter, more empathetic future.
