My Project

This project will provide current, culturally relevant, and high-interest books for students to read during Book Club in the library. The 1,780 students at my high school are culturally diverse and curious. When it comes to reading, they want books that are current, popular, and high-interest. I also think it is important for them to have books that are culturally relevant and options such as graphic novels. I want to offer a Book Club at least once a month in the library, but I need to have at least 6 copies of each book so the students can read and discuss them together.

My goal for this project is to bring students together, to learn to love reading, and to encourage more reading outside of the classroom.

I want students to read books for fun, not just because they have been assigned to read them.

These book sets will make a difference for my students because it will allow them to choose and read books together, to discuss them, and to get to know one another.
