Help me give my students excellent books about people with their same experiences so they can see they are not alone, and for other students these books will build empathy so they will understand their peers.

My Students
This is a diverse group of multi-cultural, civic minded students who are open to learning about important and timely topics including, gender, racism, inequities and similar themes. They meet two times or more per month, listen to guest speakers and discuss the hard questions not often addressed in class.
My Project
We have a group at our school called "Empathy Project" these students meet weekly and talk about hard things. I am requesting multiple copies of books - Dear Martin and This Book is Anti Racist (racism), Genesis Begins Again (colorism) Front Desk (immigration) Fighting Words and Maybe he Just Likes You (abuse), and The Green Bicycle (cultural expectations). We will incorporate these books into the discussions, and copies will be provided for the students to read independently. I feel that these titles not only represent our students as mirrors where they can see themselves, but they also provide a window for the students who have not had these experiences to learn, to build empathy and relate to their peers.
