This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How are we going to help our world if we don't form future problem-solvers? Who will be the next Thomas Edison? Or the next Mae Jamison?

African American students make up about 70% of our school; the rest includes a rich diversity of cultures such as Latino and Asian.

Since we are a Social Justice Magnet School, we are teaching respect, tolerance, and teamwork. Our students are aware of the issues awaiting them and they are getting ready! Unfortunately, my school is a Title I LAUSD with minimum funding and most of our parents can't afford donations.

My Project

My students need Fossil Fuels, 365 Ways To Live Green for Kids, Planet Earth, From Windmills to Hydrogen Fuel Cells, and Get Real to learn about environmental issues and what they can do to help their community. With these books, students will study how we affect our world. Children will first focus on the animal perspective and research habitat destruction along with endangered animals. Later, they'll switch to the human aspect and attempt to improve their community. These books will be our springboard to develop responsible citizens!

Your generosity will no only support science education, it will strengthen reading and writing skills.
