My Students

Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book you couldn't put down? Well, my classroom needs more books like that. Once first graders get to know characters like Fancy Nancy, Fly Guy, Froggy, and Pete the Cat, the books fly off the shelves!

My first graders are eager, hard-working students.

They come from many different countries, including the United States, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Yemen, Egypt, Turkey, Poland, Mexico and more. Many of my students are English language learners; at this age it is amazing to watch how much they grow and learn.

My Project

With these additional titles added to our classroom library, my students will be able to find books they love in a snap! The only problem they will face is having so many great books to choose from! These books are high interest for this age group and can easily be grouped together. For the Fancy Nancy lovers, there will be a "Fancy Nancy" basket and for the Pete the Cat lovers, there will be a "Pete the Cat" basket. Some students won't stop reading until they have read the entire series. Now that's what I'm talking about!

By adding these books to my classroom library, you will make book shopping day the most exciting day for my students!

They will flourish as readers, and more importantly, they will develop a true love of reading.
