Books Requested by Boys: Adding Engagement with Adventure!
Help me give my students books with male narrators to fill the genre gap we are missing in our high school classroom bookshelf!

My Project
Many of our students struggle with finding books that engage them, particularly my male students. The boys have been very vocal (to say the least) about what they want to read, and the fact we barely have any books in the genre categories they are drawn to, if any at all!
By focusing on novels that feature strong male protagonists with action-packed plots, we’re giving students access to stories they can relate to or get excited about.
We have laughed that our bookshelf is majority "frilly" books, and they specifically want something "western or adventurous" to read. Fulfilling their specific book requests would not only get them reading, but would make them feel heard, important, and appreciated! I would love to make this happen for the boys in our classroom!
