Books, Reading Canopy, and SEL Conversation Cards for Emerging Readers

Help me give my students books, a reading canopy, and conversation cards for emerging language learners.

My Project

Oftentimes, students do not have enough books and supplies in class and at home.

Students do not have access to a library in our school, and often do not have the resources or time with their working families to go to the library.

They may be taking care of family, working a part-time job, or have other obligations. I hope that my classroom can give students access to books to bring home for themselves and their families.

In addition, I hope to further my classroom library and offer students a diverse amount of texts to peak their interests. Students have been requesting these texts. I am hoping to develop their joy for learning and reading within our classroom. There are group games that will help them engage in collaboration and joy.

We will use ELL flash cards in small groups and class wide activities. We will use the canopy to bring some magic outside for the last 2 months of school and every year onward! I hope I can give students the joy of reading and engaging with the peers by having class outside. This will create the magic of school and enjoying being a kid again. Everything is so appreciated!
