Books R Us

My students need a leveled library with various fiction and nonfiction books, ranging in grade level, so they can be challenged and engaged during independent reading, guided reading, and literacy centers.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I haven't met my new 3rd grade students yet because we still have a couple more weeks of summer break. However, from my talks with their 2nd grade teachers, I know they come well-prepared and are very capable readers. I was notified that most are reading at or above grade level, are well-behaved, and come from Spanish-speaking homes. I need to advertise this project now so my class has what they need to flourish. I look forward to meeting my inheritance, developing their minds and hearts, and accompanying them along their 3rd grade journey.

My Project

Donations to this project will directly impact my students by equipping them with a leveled library. More and more, experience and research has shown the value of having a library in the classroom containing various reading levels and genres. My students will benefit tremendously because they don't have anything like this in their classroom now. The books you donate will keep them engaged and challenged. We'll use these books during independent reading, guided reading, and literacy centers. With a leveled library, my students can systematically progress to higher reading levels, improving their fluency, comprehension, and chances for success in future grades.
