My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom. Due to the low income/high poverty, our school receives a grant that allows all students to receive free lunch.

My students are determined to have a better life, for themselves and their community!

They work hard every day to learn their academics as well as how to be a positive influence in their community. Every morning, my students leave their homes and come to school ready to learn. I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. Let's challenge the students and help them succeed to their full potential!

My Project

The reading materials in this project are aligned with our Louisiana Guidebook Novel Studies in ELA and will help set my students on the right path to success! The following books are suggested reads that pair well with our novel unit of "Shutting Out the Sky" in 5th grade. Our school is Title 1 school, which means our children are from low income families and are at-risk academically. Therefore, budgeting is a key factor in our community. By supporting our project, you would be helping students reach their potential.

My students need a group set of books for paired reading, to accommodate the "Shutting Out the Sky" unit studies in their reading lessons. With access to these books, they will be challenged academically and they will push themselves to be the best they can be.
