Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach fourth grade at an awesome Title I neighborhood school in Coconut Creek, Florida. My students are a diverse group with various learning needs and challenges. Many come from different countries. For many of them English is their second language. My students are motivated by hands-on, real-world, engaging activities. They love reading and math and learning new concepts daily.
We are a Title I school which means that more than 60% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunches.
My Project
Reading comprehension is the building block of success! Making sure students are able to find high interest books quickly and with ease is important if you want them using their time reading instead of searching. The mobile book cart and book bins will allow me to organize my library by themes so students are able to go straight to the book they love! An organized library will afford my students plenty of enjoyable reading opportunities. In addition, I will be able to move the mobile cart around the room and create quiet reading books around the classroom for my students to enjoy!
