I have the pleasure of working with 26-second grade students, who are striving for greatness. My students are predominately Spanish, African American, and Muslim, many of them are currently English Language Learners. I work with children who are trying to master the language as well as all other academic requirements of a second grader.
My students are awesome and deserve to have access to all they need to continue growing as learners!
They come from a low income neighborhood, with parents who want the best for them, but they often do not speak the language. Supplies and support are limited for these hard-working kids, who need it the most.
My Project
All of our students have been thrown a curve ball this year as far as schooling. My students are so excited to be back in school and are ready to learn. Unfortunately due to funding supplies have been limited. The books I have requested will be used to develop strong reading strategies, as well as a love for reading.
My students need books that will not only interest them but allow them the opportunity to become stronger readers.
Many of the books in my current library are either outdated or in poor shape.
