My students need books that are interesting, engaging, and accessible and a cozy place to read them.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Grace's classroom raised $745
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students and their families have sought out and selected our school to provide an enriching educational environment for their children. Our integrated units of study provide multiple entry points for learning to meet the varied learning needs of all students. Through these studies, students learn how to learn.
They truly take on the roles of researchers, engineers, scientists, nutritionists, and mathematicians.
Almost all families qualify for free or reduced lunch. My students understand that they have a place in the world and are more than capable of making an important contribution. They learn to become flexible, resilient, and creative thinkers who are able to work collaboratively and solve problems.
My Project
Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book you couldn't put down? Well, my classroom needs more of THOSE kinds of books. And more importantly, these books need to jump into my students' hands.
With these additional titles added to our classroom library, my students will be able to find books they love in a snap!
As always, I have chosen books that are high interest for this age group. I have also chosen books that can be grouped together easily. If my student knows they love Biscuit books, the books will be conveniently located in the "Biscuit" basket. Some students will even challenge themselves to reading all of the books in a basket!
Other books in this project will go into a "We Can Change the World" basket. I want my students to see themselves in the literature they read, as well as feeling empowered to make a difference in their world. I've also included clipboards to draw and write about their reading, some clear bins to hold the books, and a small rug to make the library area a little more comfortable.
By adding these materials to my classroom library, you will make book shopping day the most exciting day for my students! They will flourish as readers, and more importantly, they will develop a true love of reading.
More than half of students from low‑income households
