My Students

My classroom is located in Chicago, IL, and is rich with culture! My international group of 3rd graders and their families hail from over 10 different countries around the globe. We are linguistically diverse with 5 different languages spoken at home.

We are so excited to be in the classroom again after a year and a half of remote learning!

We spend time each day supporting each other through the many feelings that have cropped up as a result of this pandemic. As true agents of resilience, my students show up each day with a passion to learn and be creative no matter what is going on in the world.

My Project

As a new 3rd grade teacher, I am looking to build my classroom library. We particularly need early chapter books. However, not just any chapter book will do.

I want my shelves filled with books containing characters as diverse as my students.

I want books that act as a mirror so that my students can see themselves in the pages and get lost in the adventure. With books like these, I know we can foster life-long readers and inspire future book authors. With books like these, we can open up the world for these students.
