Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a Title I school in Nebraska where 88% of my students receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. Even though we live in the heart of America, we live in a community filled with vast diversity. 50% of the students that attend my school are English Language Learners. My students consistently are fighting adversity.
I know I that I cannot change what happens outside of my classroom door but I want to be a light of inspiration for my students as much as possible while they are inside the four walls of my classroom.
I want to prepare capable and lifelong learners for the challenges and opportunities in their future. I want to do everything in my power to provide my students with the best learning environment that I can.
My Project
The items I am requesting will be used immediately by my new 3rd graders! The light filters will block the obnoxious fluorescent light. They have also been begging me to add 'Big Nate' to my classroom library. The final items are clipboards, pens, art supplies and finger pointers which makes reading groups a little more interesting!
The goal of this project is to give my students tools to become successful.
I also added some Magna-Cubes to add to our STEM bin collection. All of these items will allow my students to have a more exciting and welcoming learning environment.
